Trauma Registry
Background
There is currently no in-hospital Trauma Registry in the country except for a pilot effort which has been initiated recently at the JPN Apex Trauma Center. Initiation of Trauma Registries and Data management systems across the designated Trauma Centres will give information not only about the mortality related data of the road traffic injury victims, but also about the crash related information (Injury Surveillance) and information on extent of injuries and provision of trauma care in pre-hospital, emergency department and Trauma Center till his final disposition. Creation of Nodal Trauma Registries at various levels of Trauma Care Centre’s and later Networking of all the Trauma Registries to make Regional and National Trauma Databank. The Trauma Registries to be outcome based so that the morbidity and mortality data can be compared across the trauma care centres and more relevant critical gaps can be found in the management strategies.

FYP The Trauma Registry pilot will be carried out initially at the JPN Apex Trauma Center and Dr. RML Hospital Trauma Center in a Project mode for first five years and then integrated into hospital services It is proposed that in the 12th FYP a serious attempt will be made for initiation of a Pilot Trauma Registry initially at the JPN Apex Trauma Center (where already some work in this regard has been initiated) and at Dr. RML Hospital. The SOP’s of the JPN trauma centre would be shared by the Trauma Center at Dr. RML Hospital.
a. Formulations of SOP’s and Data Capture format
The formulation of the SOP’s regarding the items to be included in the Data Capture Format, and also the process by which the data would be captured and recorded in the hard format. The first year will also see the finalization of the final data capture format after internal and external validation by specialists, doctors and nurses.
b. Development of Software for the registry
After the validation of the data capture format the format will have to be made as software so that the data which is captured can be easily uploaded on to data software for easy analysis and report formation.
